As a Demi Chef de Partie, you will work closely under the direct supervision of the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef, supporting a specific section of the kitchen while gradually taking on more independent responsibility. IHG properties are known for structured, well-run kitchens, and this role is designed to give ambitious chefs real hands-on development within that system.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes within your assigned section — whether that’s larder, sauce, pastry, or grill — following the hotel’s recipes, portion standards, and plating guidelines precisely. You’ll be responsible for mise en place ahead of service, ensuring ingredients are prepped, labeled, and stored correctly according to food safety standards.

During service, you’ll work at pace alongside the rest of the kitchen team, communicating clearly with fellow chefs and expediting dishes on time without compromising quality. You’ll also support inventory checks, stock rotation, and basic ordering for your section, and you’ll be expected to maintain a clean, organized, and HACCP-compliant workstation at all times.

As you settle into the role, you may also be asked to help train and guide commis chefs and kitchen stewards working within your section, giving you early exposure to supervisory responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should have at least two to three years of relevant kitchen experience, ideally within a hotel, resort, or high-volume restaurant environment. A recognized culinary qualification is preferred, though strong hands-on experience combined with demonstrable skill can also be considered.

You should be comfortable working across a variety of cuisines depending on outlet needs, have a solid grasp of food hygiene and safety practices, and be able to follow recipes and plating standards with consistency. Physical stamina is important, since kitchen shifts are demanding and often involve standing for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills, a team-first attitude, and the ability to stay calm and focused during high-pressure service periods are essential.
