What You’ll Be Doing

Your core responsibilities will include washing and sanitizing kitchen equipment, cookware, utensils, and crockery to the hotel’s strict hygiene standards, using both manual methods and industrial dishwashing equipment. You’ll be responsible for keeping kitchen floors, walls, and workstations clean throughout service, and for managing waste disposal and recycling in line with hotel and municipal regulations.

You’ll also assist with the proper storage of clean equipment, ensure kitchen tools are available and in good condition for chefs during service, and support deep-cleaning schedules for larger equipment such as ovens, grills, and extraction systems. Stewards are often the first line of defense in food safety compliance, so attention to hygiene detail is critical in this role.

Beyond cleaning duties, you may be asked to assist chefs with basic prep tasks during busy periods, transport supplies between storage areas and kitchen stations, and support the overall operational flow of the kitchen. Working closely with chefs, other stewards, and kitchen management is a daily part of the job.

What We’re Looking For

This role is well-suited to candidates who are hardworking, reliable, and comfortable with physically demanding work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Prior experience as a kitchen steward, dishwasher, or in a similar hygiene and support role within hospitality is preferred, though motivated candidates with strong work ethic and no direct experience may also be considered.

Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices is important, and a willingness to learn HACCP-aligned procedures is expected. You should be able to work efficiently under time pressure, particularly during peak meal service, banquet events, or large group bookings, without compromising on cleanliness standards.

Physical stamina is essential, as the role involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy trays and equipment, and working around heat, steam, and water. A cooperative attitude and willingness to support the wider kitchen team, including chefs and fellow stewards, will make you a strong fit for this position.
