Role Overview

As Barista, you’ll be responsible for preparing and serving coffee and beverages to a consistent standard, keeping the bar clean and organized, and building the kind of rapport with regulars that keeps a neighborhood café thriving. As Service Crew, you’ll support the front-of-house — greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring the dining area stays clean and welcoming throughout the day. Both roles are hands-on and customer-facing, and Cafe James is open to candidates applying for either position based on their strengths and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Barista: Prepare espresso-based and specialty beverages to recipe standards
• Barista: Maintain and clean espresso machines, grinders, and bar equipment daily
• Service Crew: Greet and seat guests, take orders accurately, and serve food and beverages promptly
• Service Crew: Handle payments and POS transactions accurately
• Keep the counter, tables, and dining area clean and presentable throughout service
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Support opening and closing duties, including stock checks and cash handling as assigned
• Build friendly rapport with regular customers, reflecting Cafe James’s community feel

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a barista or in café/restaurant service is preferred but not essential
• A warm, friendly personality with genuine customer service instincts
• Ability to stay organized and calm during busy morning and weekend rushes
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage
• Willingness to work café hours, including early mornings and weekends
• Team player attitude and reliability
• Valid UAE work eligibility or transferable visa status
