Coffee is one of the easiest businesses to love and one of the hardest to run well. Behind every good cup there is a team that keeps the counter moving, the tables clean and the guests happy. The Espresso Lab, part of Shamal Holdings, is hiring Service Crew to be exactly that team.
If you like fast, friendly work and you enjoy being around people, a café job can be a very good place to start or to grow. You learn quickly, you meet new faces every day, and the skills you pick up, such as service, speed and teamwork, are useful in any hospitality career.
Company: The Espresso Lab (Shamal Holdings)
Position: Service Crew
Location: UAE
Industry: Café and coffee service
What a Service Crew member actually does
Service Crew are the face of the café. You are the first person a guest sees and often the last one they talk to, so the way you greet people, take their order and handle small problems shapes how they remember the visit. It is not only about carrying cups. It is about making people feel looked after. On busy mornings, that mix of speed and friendliness is what keeps queues short and regulars coming back.
In a specialty coffee setting, you will also learn about the drinks you serve. Knowing the menu well, being able to explain a flat white or a cold brew, and suggesting something to go with it makes the job more interesting and helps the café sell more.
Your main responsibilities
- Greeting guests with a smile and taking orders accurately
- Using the POS system to process payments and handle cash with care
- Serving drinks and food quickly and presenting them neatly
- Helping with basic drink and food preparation when the team needs support
- Keeping tables, counters, machines and the customer area clean and tidy
- Restocking cups, lids, syrups, milk and other supplies during the shift
- Following hygiene and food safety rules at all times
- Handling customer questions and feedback politely, and passing on bigger issues to the supervisor
- Helping with opening and closing duties as scheduled
What helps you get shortlisted
- Previous experience in a café, restaurant or other customer service job is a big plus
- A warm, positive attitude and a neat, professional appearance
- Good spoken English, with Arabic or other languages being useful
- The ability to stay calm and organised when the café gets busy
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- A real interest in coffee and a habit of learning quickly
- Good teamwork, because no café runs well with one star and a quiet crew
Why this is a good job to build on
A Service Crew role is often the first step on a longer path. Many café professionals begin at the counter, move into barista work, then become senior baristas, shift leaders or supervisors. Working with a company under a larger group such as Shamal Holdings can also mean more room to grow over time, though that depends on the business and on how you perform.
To be fair, the work is on your feet. Rush hours can be intense, and you will be cleaning as much as serving. But if you like movement, people and the smell of fresh coffee, the days tend to pass quickly.
