Why this role is worth a look
If you love the smell of fresh espresso and enjoy making someone’s morning a little better, this one is for you. Sheraton The Walk Dubai is hiring a Barista to join its food and beverage team. Because it is a hotel, you will serve a steady mix of in-house guests, visitors and locals, which means plenty of chances to practise your craft on every shift.
About the hotel
Sheraton is one of the best-known hotel brands in the world and part of the Marriott family. The Dubai property sits on The Walk, a lively strip full of cafés, restaurants and people from every corner of the world. Mornings can be busy with breakfast guests, and afternoons often bring a second rush from visitors out for a stroll.
That is good news if you like staying active and learning fast. Hotel teams are usually large, so you will work next to colleagues with very different experience, and you tend to pick up something new almost every week.
What you will be doing
- Prepare and serve espresso drinks, filter coffee, teas and cold beverages to a consistent standard
- Greet guests warmly, take orders accurately and suggest drinks or pastries when it feels natural
- Keep the coffee station, grinders and machines clean, stocked and ready for service
- Follow hotel hygiene and food safety rules at all times, including correct storage and labelling
- Handle payments or room charges accurately if your outlet requires it
- Support teammates during busy periods and help with opening and closing tasks
- Tell your supervisor early about equipment faults or low stock so the shift runs smoothly
What the hotel is likely to look for
- Previous barista experience in a café, restaurant or hotel is preferred, although a great attitude can open doors for newer candidates
- Good knowledge of espresso preparation and milk texturing, with basic latte art as a bonus
- Clear spoken English; extra languages help a lot in Dubai
- A neat appearance and a friendly, confident manner
- Comfort with standing for long hours and working shifts that can include early starts, evenings, weekends and public holidays
- A food hygiene certificate is a plus
- Candidates already in the UAE with valid visa status are usually shortlisted faster
Salary and benefits
The exact salary and package were not confirmed publicly at the time of writing, so please treat this as general guidance and not a promise. Hotel roles in Dubai commonly include a monthly salary plus a share of service charge, a duty meal, uniform, and visa and medical cover. Some employers also offer staff accommodation or transport.
Large hotel groups often provide staff discounts on stays and dining, as well as real progression, for example from barista to senior barista to supervisor. Ask about every part of the package during your interview so there are no surprises later.
How to apply
Tips to stand out
Baristas are often hired on small details. Arrive early for your interview, dress smartly and smile. If you get a practical test, stay calm, keep your station tidy and talk through what you are doing. Interviewers notice cleanliness and confidence almost as much as taste.
Be honest about your experience, but also show you are eager to learn. Hotels like people who can grow with the team, and a polite, positive attitude can matter just as much as technical skill. Finally, apply as soon as you see the vacancy, because hospitality roles in Dubai can close quickly once enough CVs arrive.
