Do you walk into a shop and instantly notice what is wrong with the window display? Then you might already have the eye this job needs. Apparel Group is hiring a Visual Merchandiser in the UAE, and it is a great opportunity for creative people who enjoy turning a store into something shoppers want to step inside.
About the company
Apparel Group is one of the best-known retail and lifestyle groups in the region, running a wide portfolio of fashion, footwear, beauty and food brands across malls in the Gulf. Working with a group of this size means structure, training and the chance to move between brands as you grow.
About the role
A visual merchandiser is the person who makes sure the store looks right before the first customer walks in. That means window displays, mannequin styling, product placement, signage and the overall flow of the shop floor. When it is done well, nobody notices the effort. They just feel like buying something.
You will work closely with store teams and the brand’s head office, bringing brand guidelines to life in each location and keeping everything consistent from one mall to the next.
Main responsibilities
- Setting up and updating window displays and in-store layouts in line with brand guidelines
- Styling mannequins and arranging product groups so they look appealing and sell well
- Rolling out new seasonal and promotional campaigns on time
- Checking that signage, lighting and props are correct and in good condition
- Training store staff on basic merchandising standards
- Visiting stores to review displays and giving clear feedback
- Keeping an eye on sales trends so you can adjust displays around best sellers
- Making sure displays are safe and tidy for staff and shoppers
Requirements
- Previous experience in visual merchandising in fashion or retail, ideally in the UAE or GCC
- A good eye for colour, layout, trends and detail
- Basic knowledge of design tools is helpful, though not always essential
- Ability to work with tight deadlines, especially during sales and seasonal launches
- Comfortable with physical work such as lifting, climbing a ladder and standing for long hours
- Good communication skills in English
- Flexibility to work evenings or night shifts when store setups need to happen after mall hours
Why it is worth applying
Visual merchandising is one of those jobs where your work is literally on show. You can walk through a mall and point at a window and say, I did that. For people who love fashion and design, that feeling is hard to beat.
It also opens doors. Experienced merchandisers can move into area visual manager roles, regional positions or even head office design teams. A large group like this usually offers more room to grow than a single independent shop.
Salary and benefits
The salary was not clearly confirmed for this post, so please read the original job ad for the current details. Retail roles in the UAE often include a basic salary, a transport or housing allowance, medical insurance, annual leave and sometimes staff discounts on the brands. Ask about all of this in your interview.
A day in the life
Many visual merchandisers spend part of the week visiting stores and part of it planning. One morning you could be restyling a window before the mall opens, and the afternoon might be spent checking photos from other branches. It is varied, and that is what keeps the job interesting.
How to apply
Prepare a clean one-page CV and, if you can, a short portfolio. Photos of displays you have created, even from smaller stores, will help you stand out much more than words alone. Keep the images neat and well labelled with the store and the campaign.
Apply through the official Apparel Group careers channel or the contact method given in the original listing. Check your details twice before sending.
